Santa is Coming

Christmas is celebrated on the 25th December every year, today is the 21st, so only 4 more sleeps to go. A Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ traditionally.  A time for giving and sharing, enjoying the company of family and friends, tucking into a festive feast, to celebrate a precious birth, some even make it to church on Christmas Day.  Times have changed, whilst some still celebrate the traditional way, today Christmas is characterised by tinsel-decorated trees, mince pies, present-giving and stuffing yourself with a turkey dinner, and alcohol . Families come together to eat and drink, be merry and play games, whilst arguing over Christmas TV.   Having said all this, let's not forget the most important aspect in todays society, looking forward to a visit from Santa Claus (Father Christmas), and his sack full of presents.

Looking for ideas to impress your guest check out my page                                    Wines Champagne Prosecco and Beer Festive Drinks for some sweet festive drink ideas.

Hen Party Games

Moze and Drink

A perfect ice-breaker game, and a fun way to introduce yourselves and get to know everybody, if you don't already!

The idea of this game is to get to know everyone quickly and easily, and is a great way to keep up on the drinking!  When somebody calls "Moze and Drink if you went to school with the bride", or "Moze and drink if you met the bride at work", those who belong to that group will moze their glasses and take a sip of their drinks.

Here are some suggestions, but you can add your own, as this game is virtually limitless:

- Moze and drink if you met the bride through the groom

- Moze and drink if you've seen the bride naked

- Moze if you’ve gotten drunk with the bride

- Moze and drink if you've known a bride secret

If somebody is the only person in the group, they have nobody to “moze” with, and therefore must accept a penalty, such as a dare, or an extra shot!

You can even set the bride up, with "Moze and Drink if you're getting married next month", knowing that she will be the only one!

Organise A Fitting Game

 You will need:

A pack of condoms

Vegetables ….to fit the condom

Notepad & pen

Aim of the game:

Whilst sitting around in a circle (preferably in a private location for this one!) each guest takes her turn to fit the condom onto a selected vegetable. The Hen, having been provided with a notepad, awards points for style, finesse, originality and level of laughter.  After every turn guest have a sip of their drink.  At the end, the hen tally up the scores to get a winner A prize for the WINNER !! . The award ceremony should certainly have the Hen taking her turn at a ‘fitting’. Guaranteed to produce lots of laughs and a fabulous ice breaker.

Guess What

 You will need:

Pen & Paper

Get every hen to anonymously write an embarrassing or unusual story relating to men or dating. Ask the bride-to-be to read them aloud and guess who wrote what. This is a great way to break the ice if you’re in a large hen party with revealing and hilarious consequences.

Wine Tasting Anyone

This is just as it say’s, a sophisticated hen party game where everyone votes for their favourite wine whilst blindfolded.

You need:

Bottles of wine (ask each guest to bring a bottle)

Brown Bags or floral sacks to keep the labels covered.

Wineglasses

Blindfolds
How it works:

Party guests will taste each bottle of wine whilst blindfolded.  When everyone has had a go, vote for your favourite wine.  The bottle with the most votes, wins! Yippee!!

The person who brought the wine will then reveal how much the wine cost, and get a prize.

 A Walk Down Memory Lane

This game is for a perfect icebreaker for a hen party group who know the bride, but not necessarily others guest.  This game is defiantly one to get the bride’s tears flowing.  This game can be played in various ways.

How it works:

1. Before the hen party, ask all the guests to think of a memory or when they first met the bride and write it on a piece of paper.

2. At the hen party, put all the memories into a hat and get the bride to pull them out one by one.

3.  The bride should read the memory out and guess which of her friends memory it is, and maybe fill in the blanks.

This is an opportunity lets the other girls know how the other guests first met the bride to be.  The guests can be as funny, sentimental or embarrassing as they like!...

 The Chocolate Game

The aim of the game, ladies is to eat lots of chocolate.

You will need:

To prepare a large slab of chocolate such as dairy milk

A knife & fork

Dice

Washing-up gloves

Underpants (or other items).
Aim of the game

The party sits in a circle on the floor, and each girl takes a turn to roll the dice.  When a 6 is thrown, the person must put on the gloves, the pants on their head then use the knife and fork to cut off a square of chocolate, this will be very difficult to cut.

The guest must keep throwing the dice and when somebody else throws a six you have to stop eating the chocolate and give them a turn.  The items must be worn and only a few cubes can be eaten at a time not a whole chunk.

Surprise surprise!!! you will find that you don't have enough time to eat hardly any of the chocolate. Be prepared for a fight ladies, with those who really love their chocolate!

Keep playing until all the chocolate has finished.

True Or False

What you need:

Pen & Paper

How well do you know the bride to be? What unusual or naughty things would people just love to know about her? This game really focuses on the bride-to-be……and so it should.

Before the hen night prepare about 25 facts about the hen- some true and some false.  Make sure the false facts are close to reality so they don't obviously stick out, and true facts not and secrets, which will dampen the atmosphere.

On the night hand, out the sheets of paper with the facts, and ask them to mark them true or false, think about grouping off. Next let them score each other’s paper which will cause more laughter. Your bride will need to be honest for this to work.  Have a prize ready for the winner, and a dare the looser!

Kiss A Hunk

 You will need:

A big celebrity poster

Blutac

Brightly coloured lipstick

Blindfold

A classic twist on the classic game 'Pin the tail on the donkey!'
Aim of the game

Print of a big poster of a hunk or buy a poster of the bride-to-be's favourite celebrity. The bigger the better.

Have your poster up at the venue so all your guests can feast their eyes on it.  Once you're ready to play the game pass around a few brightly coloured lipsticks and get the girls to apply lots of it. Blind fold your guest, one at a time, turning them at least 3 times, turn and ask them to try and kiss the hunk on the lips.  No cheating… make sure the blindfold is tight.  To add some trills to the game, section off the picture into different areas, certain areas can lead to treats, or dares, or points.

Draw a faint line lightly to make them clear to you on the poster. Each time someone kisses the poster, write their name next to the kiss to see who wins at the end.  A winning gift would be great for instance, the hunk’s poster.

Memory Hen Party Game

This is a great game to play at a venue or in your home. If you enjoy memory games this is the one for you!

Everyone sit’s in a circle and take turns saying "I went to (bride-to-be's name) wedding and there was....."

The funnier and naughtier the better, the next person has to say the same thing and then add one of her own.  This keeps on going until someone forgets (remember your starting from the beginning) what was at the wedding and they can't keep it going any longer.

It’s a good idea to have a few dares/ forfeits waiting, maybe a triple shot.

Photo Groom

Before the hen party, ask all the guests to bring a photo of the groom-to-be.  Not just any photo but the funniest or ugliest photo of the groom-to-be that they have, (remember Photoshop)…..  or other photo editing Apps.   The guest must arrange all the photos for the Hen to see. Challenge the Hen to guess who brought which photo or to guess where each photo was taken and the story behind it.  Also challenge the Hen to guess which was photoshopped.

Organise A Pin the Tail on the Male

Sounds familiar…. it is actually pin the tail on the male. Okay, when we say ‘Tail’ we don’t mean a tail as such… but a little more x-rated, (say no more), Catching my drift?  Print a large poster of a man and a selection of ‘tails’ for each guest to take their turn at being blindfolded and pinning their ‘tail’ on the poster of the male.

The poster of the male can be a hunk with “just a bow tie”, or Tarzan with the groom’s face, superimposed.  This game is best played after everyone is in full swing of the party, fun and laughter.

Organise A Pegging Contest

Give each of the guests a set of three pegs and challenge them to peg three items through the night.  The list can be a tie, a sock,  a bra….chocolate.  The type of items, can be your choice (be inventive) but a popular choice is men you think are good looking!

Mr and Mrs

Just how well does the bride know her groom? Write a list of questions about the bride and get her future husband to answer them, without letting the bride to be know.  At the party, everyone can ask the bride-to-be questions, just how compatible are they????

Mother Love

Simple enjoying the planning of our usual family visit to a restaurant on Sunday, Mother's Day. Upon waking and taking care of family, we will meet at a chosen restaurant, where at least 18 people will unexpectedly descend on waiting staff, expecting to be seated, without any fuss.

Gifts wrapped in beautiful bags with crunchy tissue paper.  Chaos and noise descends, whilst we try to coordinate the grandchildren.   Our Mother's Day, filled with fun laughter and chaos, but we love it, all the mother's and grandmother in tow.  We love you mum.....

Valentine on a Budget

Valentine's Day is fast approaching, unfortunately not everyone has money to buy extravagant gifts.  Some of us have to actually try and do our best with what little we have.  So today I'm going to give you a few ideas on how to make your Valentine Day special.  You will be spending very little money, and it will still be Valentine's Day which will be remembered.
I will  include a few  ideas for those in "singledom",  so don't despair. https://www.tesco.com/valentines/
So let's give it a whirl........ first of all one of the things that you can do together as a couple is to dance!..... yes dance dance dance dance.  Dancing is so much fun, and we all have music in our collection (including in the mind and soul), which will remind us of our special love one or a special occasion.
Put the kids to bed, if you have no child care, (just have to be a bit quieter).   Light your candles to give a beautiful atmosphere, making the night even more romantic and special. Don't fancy candles, pull out those fairy lights form Christmas, and light up the heart of your love.   Start by getting your music player ready by getting YouTube on the internet if you have it, or stack your favourite CD's or favourite ITunes, ready to play.  Start reminiscing,  sit and play nice music together, music that brings back memories, or music just to makes you both feel good about yourselves, or just feeling good about each other.
Maybe you have some music from your first date night, or your wedding playlist, just enjoy dancing and letting your hair down, just be loose and free with one another.   Enjoy re/discovering love for each other.
If you plan ahead, you can compile a playlist for each other remembering what music has special meaning.  Be romantic, whilst the music is playing, and the mood is  right, shower each other with niceness.   Take turns to play, explain to each other what it means to you, why you decided to choose those tracks enjoy!!. remember to say I Love You.

Fancy some baking?  we all love to eat, so why not find your favourite cake recipe, maybe choose a nice rich layered cake, or some cookies/muffins.   Spend the time in the kitchen together with some light music in the background, a bottle of red, or a bottle of your favourite plonk,  whatever takes your fancy and just baked together and have fun.  When your finish get yourself to the sofa, or somewhere comfy and feed each other your finish delicacy, or you can sit and talk and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Have a spa night, many of us have beauty treatments in our own bathroom cupboards...get them out!!!.  Gather some candles make the bathroom nice and warm dim the lights and get the bath running nice and hot.  Share it with your love one and just enjoy each other's company. Try giving each other a facial using food ingredients, such as egg whites, avocadoes, honey and oats.  Salt and honey makes a great body scrub, just avoid the eyes.  Grab some wine and some chocolate's maybe!! whatever you favourite food is , and just enjoy each other's company that is the most important thing.

Dream look into each other's eyes and deep in each other's soul,.... dream. We all know that at some point in the relationship we all talk about what we wanted  for our futures,  for the relationship, where you want to go how we are going to get there.  Spend the evening, by candle light.  Turn off the TV, music turned low, gather some nice warm  blankets and snuggle up with your love one.   Maybe spend the night reminiscing about the past.  Talk about your dreams for the future, aspirations, keep it  low-key.  This is all about listening and appreciating each others support.   It's really just  about fun, seeking bonding time with one another again, remembering why and how the relationship got to the point where it is it .

Maybe a dream of having a round the world trip together, raising a family you've just forgotten about it. Bring it back up, plan how you can actually achieve this dream or it could be opening a café together, writing a book you'll need support from one another so sit down relax cuddle up and enjoy each other's company.  Just talk about your dreams and aspirations again.  Try relighting the flames which might have been blown out.  Enjoy the dream relived the dream to dream is not dead.

Cinema night-gather all the cushions from the sofa, your quilts from the bed.  Spread your quilts on the living room floor, light your candles dim the lamp, fairy lights.  You can achieve this, by spreading a handkerchief over the lampshade (please be careful this can be a fire hazard). Get your favourite movie on the laptop, (lots of free movie web sites available, be savvy, ask a friend).  If you really want to go the whole way attach a projector to the wall, onto a white bedsheet.   Gets a feast, and get ready to watch your favourite movie together. Maybe you might want to choose a romantic movie, or a movie which holds special meanings.  Watch together cuddle up, eating popcorn, crying in each other's arms if you need to, and just enjoy each other's intimate space.

Now cards are so expensive around Valentine's Day, so why not make your own.  They  are very simple to make. Get some red card, and just fold it in half and just write from your heart.  Still too pricey, grab an old card, and stick white paper over the front and the middle....voila... If this is too difficult for you to think about, or to gather an idea, of what you want to say, when you go out shopping next time, just take a look at the shop cards, get you phone out to take a photo including the words within the card. Return home and just pencil them in your card, easy!!

What I try to do during the year is to collect coupons from department stores newspapers offering bargains, for instance 30% off next purchase.  At the moment I have a coupon for a facial makeover with Clinique and I have a free five day gym pass at Pure gym which again is free. Most boutiques, grooming retailers will always have some form of freebies available to customers, who would like to try their service.  Spend the day going around the shops asking different establishments/retailers for free facials, free hand massages, free haircuts.
I also have other websites which do 2-for-1 meals, 40% off main meals, again those coupons can be used. So when you've made your card,  put a coupon inside and that can be of great Valentine gift.

If you're free why not get some paper and pen and make your own coupons. Your coupons can have things like I give you a hand massage every Friday of the month of February.  Another voucher could be, I will cook the meals on the weekends for the month of March, or you will give your love one a massage which can be redeemed any time within the month of February.
It is a good idea, to have an inkling  of what your Valentine likes or wants.  Try to give them something that will make them happy, and special to them.  Don't just give what you think is a good gift, because there is no point, offering somebody a full body massage when they're actually quite ticklish.   A foot massage when someone is shy of their feet.

Valentine is a chance to spend time with your love one.  Life can be so busy, so this special day is worth the extra time and effort to ensure your beloved feel "the love".    So enjoy, it's only one day a year.   Make the effort,  go out and spend some time with one another.  Valentine is a great time to lavish your spouse or love one, boyfriend and girlfriend.  This is an opportunity to rekindle the old flames, "baby I love you"!!!!

Here are some  ideas if you're single. Just because there is no man or woman currently in your life, why not spend the day doing something special to keep your mind off "singledom".  You can do this by, visiting another friend who is single, and share a bottle of wine together.  Jokes!! watch a movie just to take your mind off the whole event.

Valentines is all about showing your love, the special love you have for them.  Loving one another, making each other feel special. ... so why not make yourself feel special too.
Don't bother going to work on February 14th, leave an hour early, then you can go home and pamper yourself.  You may choose to stay at home, order a take-away and binge while watching movies with your favourite celebrities or your favourite TV show on Netflix just close the  curtains  and enjoy your own company.

If you feel these are not options for you, but you would like to do something for yourself, try and follow a project through. Try and finish off any work that you have been putting off.  Finish your CV, or start that blog you have been meaning to do.  If your finances are out of order, start rearranging them.  Whilst doing these task, enjoy a treat, whether it maybe chocolates, wine, playing on your video game.  Places of worship are always open in the evening, maybe you've been wanting to visit, now is the time.

Laugh and be happy and content. Releasing those endorphins will reduce stress boosting your mood and making you feel happy.  It may be difficult looking at all those happy couples but nothing is going to change, so don't make yourself depressed or wallow in self pity.  Instead, cuddle up watch loads of funny movies one after the other, and just have lots of fun.  If you have a pet cuddle up to your pet and give them all the love in your heart.  Make them your Valentine.

If you have more than one friend in your circle who is single, throw a singles party, turn your singledom into fun and happiness share it with other single's.  Everyone can chip in with the drinks and the snacks and just have a good time.  This a great time to play indoor poker or scrabble, or some card games.
Even if you're single you deserve to be happy. Try to do everything possible to make that one day a happy one. https://www.tesco.com/valentines/
