Football Fever 2014

2014 World Cup is here so, why not theme your party around your favourite team or a big game? Invite some friends, family or even your neighbours to watch the game and have a party.

I will show you how to create a sporting theme, and decorate your home or garden with everything football.
If ever there’s a big game on the box, this is always a great reason to celebrate.  This is a fun way to enjoy the footie, a great occasion for all the family, or have a big people event with lots of beer and wine.  What ever you decide it's a great way to spend a weekend with your loved ones.

Check out http://www.partypieces.co.uk/summer-party.html for great football theme decorations. They provide everything you could possibly need to plan a great event.  Their range includes an essential football party kit, loaded with all you will need.

Planning the football party:

There are many ways to plan your football theme party.  You could watch it live on your TV at home, watch the re-play in the garden, on the beach, by the river on in the park.  What ever way you decide to go, it should be a relaxed affair.  Whether you are watching a league game on TV at home or re-living the excitement outside in the garden, park or on the beach, a football party should be informal and relaxed. You don’t have to be all football fans to enjoy the occasion; it’s just a good excuse to get everyone together.

Inviting your guests:

Send out some football invitations or try the cheaper way of cutting out circles from football wrapping paper, stick on plain white card, write the details on the back, for a quick and easy solution.

If you’re inviting your guest to watch a big game, try asking them along an hour or so before the game starts. This will give you enough time to create a great party atmosphere so everyone can get in the sporting mood.  This is when you can offer snacks and drinks.
Please remember to spread those bean bags, making sure everyone has a good seat to watch the game.  Remember the party does not have to based around one game, you could just have a BBQ,  afternoon tea, with the footie in mind.  If you have children this is a great alternative because you could finish early , so they won't be out too late.

Time to decorate:

Start by decorating your home and garden with vibrant football theme decorations, or England themed decorations.  Do your research on the internet.  There are plenty of football theme suppliers around to make life easy. Usually they will offer reasonable   postage, even free sometimes.

Start by hanging football bunting between trees, football flags in the garden and fix a football party sign on your front lawn or driveway.  Serving finger foods, doing a BBQ’s or buffets works very well.  Serving your food in football themed paper plates and napkins is a great way to complete the theme.  Helium balloons, tied in the garden or around the party lounge, in bunches will make your party space even more appealing.   Alternatively balloon weights will allow you to arrange your balloons on table or in other empty areas. If your garden is large enough, don't forget to take out the mini goal, for some more fun after the game.

Football party menu:

When choosing your menu bear in mind all your guest, choose something that works well for both children and adults. Things like mini pizzas, salmon and potatoes, potato wedges, nachos and delicious dips.  A nice cous cous salad mixed with a crunchy salad drained with a balsamic vinegar dressing, is easy to make and you only need a little to go a long way.  Think of fun finger-food choices and best for feeding a crowd.

Everything mentioned can be prepared beforehand and require just re-heating in the oven.  A BBQ fit for footballers will also go down a treat.  There are many small easy to use BBQ's which can be used, if on the beach or in the park.

Chicken drumsticks, mini burgers, sausages and kebabs are fun  to serve and everyone will enjoy "diggin in". A big bowl of green salad, corn on the cob, avocado, tomatoes, mozzarella or goats cheese and other delicious fillings will be popular with the adults too.  For the children, make some popcorn, and serve them in hand made cones (football paper).

Prepare plenty of cold drinks, including soft options for the children and non-drinkers try making a thirst-quenching punch and serve in football party cups. For dessert, you could bake a few batches of cupcakes in football cupcake cases and serve on football cake stands.  If you prefer you can buy a plain ready-made cakes from the supermarket and then just decorate them yourself.  You may also be able to pre-order from your local  bakery, decorated and ready to serve.

Serving your food:

Again you can get some lovely football plastic party-ware perfect for outdoor parties on the internet.  Finger foods can be served on trays covered with vibrant colourful napkins. Popcorn, crisps, salads can be served in giant football serving bowls or plain coloured bowls, bought from your local supermarket.

Football party fun & games:

OK! it's time to organise some fun outdoor party games. A mini football tournament will  go down great for both children and adults.  This will add a competitive spirit.  You might want to get a football pinata, guests take it in turns to hit the pinata until all the contents spill to the floor.  These are readily available at this time of year.  You might also like to try playing your tounement with a tennis ball, to add more fun.

What about offering guests a chance to have the St George’s cross painted on their face or other colours of their favourite football team? Children will love this but keep some face wipes on hand for easy clean up. Another fun activity for children is a football cookie kit, which comes complete with ready-made gingerbread cookies, icing and an edible football shirt so children can decorate their own masterpiece.

8. Something for going home

Send children home with a football inspired goodie bag – even just some football party bubbles, football whistle and finger football game popped into a football loot bag or football gift cup are fun. Even the older members might appreciate a bag of chocolate footballs to take home with them. There are lots of football prizes, presents and toys at Party Pieces that will make great post-party mementos.

CINEMA OUTDOORS

A video projector can give you a true cinema-like experience at home. So why not plan a cinema night this summer with some friends.

I am thinking an outdoor experience, with quilts on the grass, a couple of tents pitched or return to childhood with some make-shift tee-pee's made with a couple of flat bed sheets.

You will need:

A projector/ surround sound
Laptop
A plain bed sheet for a screen
Extension cable

Tents etc....(you decide)

Food

Popcorn

Hotdogs

Cheat burgers (already prepared)

Nachos and cheese topped with chilli

Mulled wine to keep off the chill

Choice bar !!! maybe cocktails and some beers.

Ideally, you want as dark a space as possible in which to use a   projector, just as with a cinema.

Doing this outside, is quite easy.  Hang your sheet on a wall or secure it on the garden fence with pegs.

Run your extension wire in a safe manner, so you have enough leverage to manoeuvre so it can project properly.

Please cover your projector and laptop !!! I don't want to say this but...here goes !! RAIN, :(

Food and drinks ready, popcorn popping, quilts spread, tents secured...ENJOY

After Dark Games

Night time…..time to play, gather your friends and enjoy the night.  When it’s dark ultimately it feels creepy, and the mind wonders about the uncertain. Whether your planning a slumber party, camp outings, music festival, or family gathering these games are perfect, to make your entertainment that little bit different.  Played with just adults will bring out the child in everyone.

Grab some friends grab some bubbly, in fact take the bar, or just your favorite plonk and prepare to have fun in the dark.

Hide and Seek in the Dark

You will need:
4 or more players
Darkness

Choose a large area for play. Try playing outside for added creepy-ness.  Indoors designate a play space it is best in a large room. Clear the area so no one will trip and hurt themselves.  Turn out the lights so it is completely dark and let the fun begin.

Choose someone to be "It."  they must waits for a minute or two while everyone else finds a place to hide. "It" goes and looks for the hiders, the game continues until everyone has been found.  Last person to be found gets a prize or a shot of their favorite drink.

Sardines

You will need:
4 or more players
Darkness

This game is very much like the classic children's game hide and seek.   In this game first choose someone to be "it" that person will be hiding.

All other players must close their eyes and count, while “it” hides. Everyone else must search for the person who's "it," and every time “it” is found, the person who found him must hide in the same place.

The game is over when the last seeker finds everyone, and the last person is considered to be the new "it."

Bugga  Monster

4 or more players

A blanket

Darkness

First choose a player to be the Bugga monster, and that person must wear a blanket over their head. Choose a large blanket so that more than one person can fit underneath it.

To begin turn the lights out, all the players will try and sneak around in the dark and avoid the Bugga monster.  If the Bugga monster catches someone, that person must also get under the blanket.  This will make the Bugga monster larger, and harder to coordinate.

The game is won by the last person who is left un-captured by the Bugga monster.  The winner definitely deserves a special prize.

Murder in the Dark

4 or more players

A blanket

Darkness

Paper strips equal to the same amount of players

A sheet of paper is torn up into enough strips so that every player can have a piece each.  On one piece of paper write the letter D and on another write the letter X.   The remainder of the strips are left blank.  Put the in a hat or bowl and mix them up.  Each person must takes one strip and keeps it hidden.  The person who gets the D is the detective. The detective must switch the light off.

The person with the X is the murderer. He must sneak up behind someone and whisper in their ear "you're dead." If you hear “your dead” in your ear you should scream out and drop to the floor.

When the detective hears the scream, he turns the light on. The detective is now able to question everyone in the room. You must answer truthfully, except for the murderer, who may lie.  The detective must then accuse someone, and if the accused is the murderer, then he must admit it.  If the detective's first guess is wrong, then he may have one more before the game is declared over.

Escape the Aliens

4 players or more

Wait until it is dark out and then choose one player to be the alien to start the game. The rest of the players line up at one end of the playing field. The alien goes into the middle of the playing field and two minutes later the first player in line heads into the playing area. That player's goal is to cross the playing field to a safety area on the other side of the field. If the player reaches the safety area, he is a winner. If she is touched by the alien before crossing the field, she becomes an alien as well.

Additional players attempt to cross the field every two minutes, even if the player before him has not completed her way through the field.  Any players that are aliens try to tag the players trying to cross the field. At the end of the game, after the last player has made it across or been tagged, the players that made it across the field are declared the winners.

Flashlight Doom

You will need:

Torch

Flashlight Doom or Flashlight Tag is a great game which is played outdoors.  Once dark outside, divide your group into teams. One team is chosen to be the catchers and lines up at one end of the playing field.

The catchers are given has many torches as possible, at least one per player. The remaining players on the other teams hide within the playing field.  At this point a dividing line is a good idea.  The goal of the game is to reach home base in the middle of the field.  If a player is caught by a flashlight beam at any time, he becomes part of the catcher team.
The winning team is determined by which team has the most players, that make it to home base.

Devils in the Woods

A blanket

4 or more players

This game is a lot of fun when played at night. Divide the players into two teams, the devils and the saints. The devils are given a blanket and take it out into the garden. The saints must count to 30 and then enter the garden. The saints goal is to find the blanket that has been placed outside in the garden, you must do this before the devils touch you.

If a saint is touched by a member of the devil team, the saint becomes a devil. The game continues until all of the players are either devils or are standing with the blanket touching it for safety.

Those that touch the blanket are the winners, if nobody touches it the original devil members are the winners for variety.

Ghost Stories

Telling ghost stories is one of the best scary things to do in the dark. So turn off all the lights, get your guest some drinks and gather around.  Take turns telling spooky ghost stories.

If you want to make the tales even creepier, go out into the garden at night to listen to the stories.

Flashlight Tag

You will need:

4 or more players
Flashlight
Darkness

Pick a spot to be "home base" (also called "jail"). Choose someone to be "It" to start the game. The person who is "It" should count to thirty. Everyone else should scatter and try to hide.

The person who is it should try to tag people by shining the light on them and saying their names. When someone is tagged, he goes and waits in home base. The game is over when everyone has been tagged. The first person tagged becomes the next person to be "It."

Murder in the Dark

You will need:

5 or more people
A dark room
Slips of paper

Find a large room that you can completely darken. Move any obstacles that someone could trip over in the dark. You will need a piece of paper for each person playing the game. On one slip of paper write "Detective." On another slip write "Murderer." On all the other pieces write "Victim." Everyone should draw a piece of paper from a hat.

The detective turns off the lights and leaves the room. He should wait just outside of the door. Everyone else walks around in the darkened room. The murderer should feel around in the room and find another person. When he does, he should tap the person three times to "murder: him. When someone has been tapped, he should scream and lie down to show that he has been murdered. The murderer can try to tap as many victims as he can before the lights come back on.

When someone screams, the detective should come back into the room and turn on the lights. Everyone in the room should freeze where they are. The detective tries to figure out who the murderer was by asking everyone questions like, "Where were you when you heard the scream?"

The detective should make a guess about who the murderer is. If the group is large, the detective can have 2 or 3 guesses. If the detective guesses correctly, he wins. If he is wrong the murderer should reveal who he was and the murderer wins. Put the slips of paper back into the pile, redraw, and play again.

Hypnotize Your Friends

This is a fun to try with friends. Turn off the lights and try to hypnotize each other. See what you can get each other to do while in a trance.

 Touch and Tell

This is a cool game which can be altered depending on your guest.   Start by finding items for your friends to touch in the dark, these can be things such as; bottle openers, pencils, a television remote, etc.. Your players must guess what it is.  For something gross to feel, find things that feel like raw chicken parts.  If your guest are squeamish try grapes for eyes, cold spaghetti for guts, carrot sticks can be fingers, water can be blood, and a wet sponge can be brains.

Try making up a story to go along with the items, it will be scarier for the people who are feeling it. Make sure they can't see what the items are.

An alternative game is to feel the body parts…guess which leg belongs to which guest, this game can be real fun.

You need not be a rich person to present a memorable Valentine's Day to your loved one.

Playing a musical instrument:  This is one of the cheapest and cutest Valentine's Day ideas learning to strung a guitar or any other musical instrument on a Valentine's Day. Imagine writing a song and playing it to that special loved one....awesome!!  You might even choose to play your loved one favourite song on this special day.  Using websites such as YouTube is a good way to learn even if it is just the basic, they will be so proud of you.

Hand Made Stuff:  Bring out the artistic side of your personality. Try making a portrait of your sweetheart or make a sketch of your darling.  You could even try making a Papier Mâché head and shoulder figure of them. Rip up old newspaper or magazine and make a collage of your special person, or there favourite thing, you could also just write a few word,         I LOVE U.  After you have made your choice, present in a beautiful frame. Sit back and see the joy in his/her eyes being presented with an original effortful and romantic gesture from you.

Hidden Gems: A great way to surprise your sweetheart by offering presents through anticipation. You can buy a few small boxes/tubs, in each place with his/her favourite chocolates alongside a tiny gift.  Hide these boxes for him/her to find put them where you know they will look every time a box is found and opened they will get surprised.

Balloons:  Try blowing up loads of balloons and filling a room for instance the bedroom, great surprise, have a bottle of your favourite wine waiting on the bed.  They will find it after they make their way through all the balloons.

Jar of Hearts:  Buy a jar with a little character and a lid.  Cut some love hearts out of several different coloured papers. Fold each heart in half and write a romantic message in each one. This is the time when you can make a long list of all the reasons why you love this person. Seal the jar decorate and give either on its own, or with a gift, for instance a bouquet of roses.

Mobile Video: Why not try making a video and sending via your mobile phone.  You can recite yours or theirs favourite poem if you don't know it make one up, especially for your loved one.

Heart shaped: chocolates and candies or small showpieces or soft toys.  A traditional favourite, that never gets tiresome.  Remember to spray the soft toy with their favourite scent.  If there is a perfume they like but you can't afford it, take your toy to the perfume counter and have a blast!!! squirt that special toy.

Give a CD with his/her favourite songs:  Download a reliable CD burner to your laptop and burn some tunes.  Spend the day/night listening to the CD and reminiscing over the songs.  Have a bottle of bubbly or wine and sing and dance let the love flow.

Hand made cards: Save your pennies buy some card from the stationary shop and make a card.  This is a much cheaper and original way to show your love.  Splash out on a couple of nice coloured pens to give a beautiful design.
