SIMPLE FAMILY GAMES

Mothering Sunday, sometimes known as Mother's Day, is held on the fourth Sunday of Lent. It is exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday and usually falls in the second half of March or early April.



What's Missing?


Players: Any number

You will need:
A tray, assorted small objects, a cloth

Whilst waiting for your lunch or your dinner players must gather around and study at least 20 or so items on the tray for a period of 30 seconds. The cloth is then replaced and the host has to try and remove one article without being noticed. The cloth is then removed, and the players have to write down which item had vanish. The routine is repeated over 10 rounds with one object being removed each time. After each round, moves articles around to stop players knowing exactly where the items are placed. To be crafty the host can also remove the same item as many times as they choose. At the end of the 10 rounds the player with the most right answers is the winner.






Lovely Words


Players: any number

You will need:
Pen and paper

This game is very slow pace but enjoyable at the same time. Players are given 5 minutes to write down as many English language words as possible and the word should contain the word "love" it's Mother's Day after all. For instance, (Ladylove Loveable Loveably Lovebird). The host then reads out the list and players must check their answers for duplicates if your word is the only one that's being written in that round then you get a point, the person with the most points wins the game.

Picture Puzzle


Players 5 to 10
You will need
Magazine or Travel Brochure

Look through some old magazines or your brochure and find a series of pictures with large photos, one per player these pictures must have plenty of detail.
The hose must then choose a letter from the alphabets something easy is better not too difficult such as T S or O and ask each player to write down as much things as they can see in their picture that begins with that letter. You have two minutes for this round. You can then get your player to read out their answers. To make sure there is fair play they must circle on my picture where the item is.





Self Portraits.


5 to 10 players

You will need:
Paper-and-pencil

The results will actually look quite amazing however they will be abstract heart art. Am price should then be given to the best portrait the most inspiring artists, so are all seated around the table and you are told to draw self-portrait however the difference

with this game is, you must use your hand that you don't usually use, so if you're right-handed you must draw with your left hand vice versa. Here's hoping that you got a number of ambidextrous people at the table













Cascade


Players: any number

You will need:
Paper-and-pen

Sitting comfortably everybody writes down the same word, this can be either for letters, five or six letters at the top of the paper.
By changing just one letter at a time, players construct a cascade of words beneath the original word. An example of this is think this could be followed by thick, trick, trice, price. The same word cannot be used more than once.
A time limit will definitely be set for this game of 4 minutes the winner is the player with the most words at the end.

Mothering Sunday, or Mother's Day, is traditionally a day to visit your mother church. It is now an occasion to bring gifts to your own mother.
